Henry Mintzberg is one of the 10 most influential thinkers in the administration area, according to the Wall Street Journal. Author of " Strategy Safari " and "Managers, Not MBAs", he presents in his book “The Rise and Fall of Strategic Planning" methodically and detailed the whole story of strategic planning, since its spread in large organizations back in the mid-1960s.
Walking through the development of strategic planning in a systematically way through the last decades, Mintzberg criticizes the "status quo" of this organizational process. For the author the action plan requires time and analysis, while the strategy is simple and informal. Perhaps this is the fact that so many well-laid plans have failed over time.
